5 youngsters from Slovenia spent a week on a youth exchange in Greece. Here is what they think of the experience:
If we were to sum up the Greek youth exchange in a single word, we would most likely choose the word “different.” The approach to all of the activities was very hands-off, which was both surprising and refreshing. This unconventional method fostered a more natural cooperation among the participants, as we had no other option but to engage directly with one another. Throughout the program, we found ourselves working together more organically, which enhanced our collaborative experience and allowed us to form stronger connections. The lack of rigid structure meant that we had to rely on our own initiative and creativity, which ultimately made the activities more engaging and enjoyable. However, while the overall experience was enjoyable, we felt that some aspects could be improved. Specifically, the afternoon and evening activities, although fun, tended to be a bit too prolonged. After a full day of various activities, we were often quite tired by the time the evening events rolled around. A slightly shorter schedule or more breaks could have made these sessions even more enjoyable and less exhausting. In conclusion, we all agree that this youth exchange program was a fun and unique experience. The hands-off approach and the opportunity for genuine collaboration made it stand out from other programs. Despite some minor adjustments that could be made to the schedule, the overall experience was positive and enriching. We leave with fond memories and a deeper appreciation for the different ways in which youth exchange programs can be conducted.
